You have stopped doing the thing you came here to do, and no one knows why because from the outside it looks like you simply disappeared. The work that was visible—the sessions, the teachings, the output that people could point to—has gone quiet, and you are terrified that this silence means you are finished, that you have lost what you were meant to carry, that something in you has broken and will not come back.

But something is closing over. Not breaking. Closing. And the difference between those two will hold you when nothing else can.

A tree in its own closing

Watch a tree that has been split by lightning or torn open by a storm, if you can watch long enough—watch it through one whole season while the bark begins to move inward, slowly, patiently, drawing itself across the exposed wood. The tree does not heal this wound the way you might imagine healing happens. It does not rush to cover it. It simply grows into the damage, year by year, the living bark creeping across the tear, until what was open becomes sealed again—not erased, but incorporated. The wood beneath the scar becomes part of the tree’s architecture, denser, darker, stronger than it was before.

That season while the covering is happening, the tree looks wounded still. The opening is visible. There is no fruit that year, no flowering you could photograph and share. There is only the private work of drawing itself closed, of mending at a cellular depth, of becoming strong enough to carry what it will carry next. The tree is not less alive during that season. It is profoundly, urgently alive—but the life is happening where no one watching from the road can see it.

This is what 789 is telling you: that you are inside that season now, and the mending that is happening in you is the only growth that matters.

Why does the 789 angel number show up when your visible work has stopped?

Because you are a teacher or a healer, and you have built an identity around what you can give—the sessions you hold, the people you guide, the visible evidence that you are doing what you came to do. When that output stops, it feels like annihilation. It feels like you have failed, or been failed, or run dry. But 789 arrives to tell you that the stopping is not a failure. It is a threshold. You have taken damage—grief, betrayal, burnout, a fundamental doubt about whether you are safe to keep giving the way you have been giving. Something in you needs to close over that wound before you can open yourself to the world again. The tree does not decide to stop its fruit-bearing as a punishment. The tree’s roots draw all the tree’s resources inward because the tree is in the work of saving itself.

And that work—the invisible cellular closing, the reorganization happening in the dark—is not separate from your calling. It is part of it. It is the part that makes you trustworthy next time you stand in front of someone who is broken. The part that teaches you what it costs to heal, what it costs to be healed.

The work you cannot see is the only work that counts

Stop waiting for the season to be over. You are inside it, and you cannot speed it. What you can do is stop interpreting the silence as a sign that you are failing. You are not resting because you need to be forced to rest. You are not silent because you have nothing left to say. You are gathering yourself back, cell by cell, into a shape that can hold what you will give next. A therapist, a trusted mentor, a community of people who understand that healers need healing too—these are not a detour from your work. They are your work this season. This is the deep, invisible labor, and it deserves the same commitment you have always given to the visible kind. What you are going through is real, and real help—professional help, the kind that asks you to speak your damage and lets you be held while you speak it—is not weakness or distraction. It is the intelligence of a tree knowing that it cannot close a wound alone.

Write what you are learning into a journal no one will read. Notice small things—that you are gentler today than you were a week ago, that you can hold a conversation without needing to fix the other person, that you are beginning to imagine a future that is not the same as the past. These are the signs of closing. They are not visible productivity, but they are real growth, and they matter more than anything else you could be doing right now.

What runs through your mind What’s actually true
If I am not producing, I am not worthy of the space I take up. Your worth is not a variable that changes based on your output. It is fixed. It was never based on what you could give.
Everyone has forgotten me by now. They have moved on to someone who is still doing the work. The people worth keeping know where you are. The ones who only valued your productivity were never truly receiving you anyway.
I have wasted months. I am so far behind. A tree spends a season closing a wound and emerges stronger than before. That season is not wasted. It is the only season that matters.
I should be stronger than this. I should be able to keep giving even though I am breaking. Strength is not the ability to give endlessly. Strength is knowing when to turn inward and rebuild.

A little help, while you’re here

  • Write down three specific moments from the work you did before this season when you were giving from a place of real emptiness, not real fullness. Do not judge them. Just name them. This names what is actually closing over.
  • Text one person—not to explain or apologize, but to say: I am in the middle of something hard and I am taking care of it. I will come back when the work is done. That honesty is the thing itself.
  • Set a boundary with one person this week who is asking you to produce before you are ready. Say no. Notice that the world does not collapse when you do.
  • Find one therapist or counselor whose work resonates with you, and make the call today. Not tomorrow. Today. This is not delay. This is the inside of your work beginning.

The bark drawing closed

You will know the season is ending when you begin to imagine the work again without it feeling like drowning. When you can hold the idea of teaching or healing without needing to run away from it. When what was torn open in you has begun to scar over—not to disappear, but to become part of your shape, part of what makes you real.

The bark will close completely. It always does. And the tree that emerges will not be the same tree that was split. It will be stronger. The scar will be visible in its rings forever, a dark year recorded in its growth, a reminder that it survived. And survivors, when they come back, carry something the unopened trees do not have. They carry the knowledge of what it cost to close. They carry compassion instead of technique. They carry the weight of having been broken and the grace of having mended. That is the gift 789 is making room for—not that you will be healed, but that you will be whole in a different way, a way that can only be earned by closing over the wound instead of denying it ever happened.

Stay inside the season. Do not apologize for it. Do not rush through it. Do not mistake the invisibility of the work for evidence that the work is not real. The bark is drawing. The closing is happening. You are not lost. You are becoming.
